Scripture:

Take each day’s Bible reading, pray over it and then read it slowly. Pray God will open your eyes to spiritual gems within His Word. Don’t skim over it or read it too fast. You may need to read it numerous times before something jumps out at you. Try to enter in to what you are reading. Place yourself there. Enjoy yourself.

Observe:

Look for words, phrases, and verses that catch your attention. Underline them or write them down. Take time to meditate upon these gems. To meditate is to talk it over with yourself and God until you have understanding. Don’t give up until you have understanding. Be diligent! Delight in His Word!

Apply:

How do your observations impact you? How should these gems change you? God isn’t speaking to you just to increase your information; He’s speaking to you to bring transformation. He wants your life to grow, develop and change for the better. What action will you take as a result of what you are hearing from God? Act upon this immediately.

Pray:

• Pray God’s Word into your life.
  
• Pray the very words and phrases that touched you.
  
• Ask Him to help you as you seek to apply His Word to your life.
  
• Thank Him for greater understanding.
  
• Thank Him that great understanding is producing in you a greater love for Him.
  
• Thank Him that this greater love for Him will continue to drive you to His Word.
  
• Ask Him to give you an insatiable appetite for His Word.
